Job Description

Parsons is seeking a Land Surveyor to join its team.

The role performs field surveying activities for infrastructure and landscaping projects.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Plan, organize, and direct surveys that determine precise locations, measurements, elevations, lines, areas, and contours.
  • Research survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and records needed for surveys.
  • Develop survey data from photogrammetric records and determine survey control procedures.
  • Locate rights-of-way, topographic features, property lines, corners, and boundaries in the field.
  • Coordinate regional control surveys.
  • Organize historical survey records and maps for incorporation into a document management system.
  • Approve and issue permits for temporary survey corner removal or destruction.
  • Draft, check, file, and distribute field survey maps.
  • Coordinate critical or complex projects using electronic measuring instruments and large survey parties.
  • Compute and plat survey data.
  • Develop and administer survey contract procedures and specifications.
  • Review and approve right-of-way and electronic communication site plats for technical accuracy.

Required Skills

  • BSc in Surveying or a diploma in surveying.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of land surveying and setting-out experience for landscape and parks projects, including streetscape and earthworks.
  • Knowledge of surveying procedures, instruments, engineering formulas, drafting, arithmetic, geometry, calculus, CAD drawings, and maps.
  • Experience with roads, infrastructure, and landscaping construction projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes and industry practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and familiarity with CAD and related engineering and construction software.
  • Proven ability to perform in a lead capacity on a project.

Work Environment

  • Field work is central to the role and supports infrastructure and landscaping projects.
