Position Summary
The Labourer is part of an effective construction team that successfully completes projects according to approved plans, specifications and applicable codes while maintaining high quality and a safe workplace.
Responsibilities
Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, barricades and other items required at construction sites
Assist and work with tradespersons and other members of the construction team
Assist and work with heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
Assist in aligning pipes and perform other related activities during underground utilities construction
Assist in excavation and backfill and other related activities during earthworks construction using shovels, rakes, plate tampers and other applicable tools
Checks slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
Remove rubble and debris to maintain and clean and safe working environment
Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed
Operate and maintain machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors and pumps

Qualifications
2+ years experience in a construction environment or in a similar role
Familiar with construction terms and practices
Effective verbal and listening communication skills
Ability to understand and effectively execute verbal and written directions
Adheres to company Health, Safety, & Environmental reporting and standard assessments
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Canadian general contractor providing civil and industrial construction services.
