The Opportunity
Vancouver School Board is seeking an experienced Labour Relations Manager to provide day-to-day operational leadership in a complex, highly unionized public-sector environment.
The role works with district leaders, union representatives, employees, and internal stakeholders across a broad range of labour relations matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day labour relations operations and manage complex labour relations matters.
- Provide guidance on collective agreements, collective bargaining, grievances, mediation, and arbitration.
- Advise leaders on discipline, performance management, investigations, and employment legislation.
- Support the Director of Labour Relations on complex and higher-risk matters.
- Build constructive relationships with unions and organizational stakeholders.
- Coach and mentor Labour Relations Advisors and Coordinators.
- Ensure advice and practices are consistent, timely, and well documented.
- Identify opportunities to improve labour relations processes and team capabilities.
Ideal Candidate
- Progressive labour relations or employee relations experience in a complex, unionized environment.
- Strong experience with collective bargaining and collective agreement interpretation and administration.
