Role Overview
Opportunity to work in custom-built laboratories within Smithers' Ecotoxicology Department of Environmental Risk Sciences.
The Laboratory Technician role is varied and mainly lab based.
Training will be provided in all aspects of the role.
Working Hours
- The role is 35 hours per week with a full-time equivalent salary.
- Working hours are 9:00 to 12:30 on Saturday, 8:15 to 17:00 Tuesday to Thursday, and 8:15 to 16:30 Friday.
Laboratory Duties
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping and cleaning.
- Culture and maintain organisms.
- Carry out routine maintenance of equipment and laboratory supplies.
- Set up and maintain laboratory degradation studies.
- Conduct sample analysis and data processing.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant A Level or equivalent qualification in a related scientific subject is required.
- Excellent IT skills, organisation, enthusiasm and a hands-on approach are expected.
- Applicants should be able to use initiative and apply knowledge.
