Key skills for this role
Prepare, test and analyse coal and related samples accurately and on time.
Follow correct procedures for sampling, recording, preparation, storage and reporting.
Use basic CCLAS and computer systems to book in samples and record analysis.
Assist with preventative maintenance of preparation equipment.
Communicate clearly across shifts to support smooth workflow and handover.
Work safely, maintain a clean work area and follow SGS safety and quality procedures.
Support routine shipping and exploration project sampling, preparation and analysis.
You are flexible and available to work shiftwork when required, with reasonable notice.
You have strong weekend availability, particularly Saturdays and Sundays.
Previous coal sampling, preparation or testing experience is preferred, but not essential.
Experience in a mineral laboratory, industrial, production or hands-on environment will be highly regarded.
Good computer skills, including Excel; CCLAS experience is advantageous.
You are reliable, safety-focused and comfortable working to tight deadlines.
You enjoy working in a team and can communicate effectively between shifts.
You’ll be joining a trusted global organisation with a strong focus on safety, quality and integrity. This casual role offers hands-on experience across coal sampling, preparation and analysis, with regular weekend work and the opportunity to support weekday coverage when required.
