Laboratory Assistant I

You are organized, adaptable, and can work effectively under pressure. Able to prioritize tasks and manage your time, you have technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary in medical laboratories today. You are comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with. You have good judgement and decision-making skills and will conduct yourself according to the Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and the APL Values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility, and Accuracy. This position works a 12-week rotation 7.75 hours Monday to Friday between the hours of 0700-1915 at St. Albert Summit. This position also works every third weekend Saturday and Sunday 7.75 hours between the hours of 0700-1530.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
