As a multisite position with the primary site at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, your opportunity to provide high quality patient care will cover a variety of laboratory duties in Anatomic Pathology. Duties include accessioning, handling, processing, routine maintenance, answering phones and directing inquiries, troubleshooting samples that do not meet sample acceptance criteria, and assisting in the gross room. Anatomic Pathology is a hands-on department that is a great place to learn about patient care and see some of the most interesting cases that come to lab. We have a diverse team - with MLAs, MLTs, PAs, pathologists, residents, and many learners on site. We are looking for someone who is motivated, energetic, pleasant, reliable, eager to learn, a great communicator, and a great team member.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Recent experience in Anatomical Pathology within 3 years and experience with Epic Beaker AP LIS.
Experience with basic clinical laboratory skills and data entry. Experience in inventory control, specimen handling, pick and transfer gross examination, intraoperative assistance and equipment maintenance of pathology equipment including cryostats, cassette labelers, balances, and grossing stations is preferred.
