Laboratory Assistant I

The Pre and Post Analytics (PPA) department is a fast-paced, non-patient-facing area that operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Lab Assistants rotate through various shift times and key benches including data entry, specimen receiving, sorting, delivery, and phone duties. As the hub lab for the North and Central Zones, we process high volumes of specimens daily. This busy and supportive team environment relies heavily on strong communication, adaptability, and collaboration. Staff in this department play a vital behind-the-scenes role in the healthcare system, ensuring that specimens are accurately documented, handled, and routed in a timely manner. With over 400 toolboxes arriving each day, teamwork and attention to detail are essential in keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently. This is a temporary position ending on or before October 31, 2027.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
