Job Overview

Entry-level management position focused on accomplishing daily kitchen objectives.

Assists in leading staff while personally supporting food production, purchasing, and kitchen sanitation.

Contributes to guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED plus four years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or a related professional area.
  • Alternatively, a two-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major plus two years of related professional experience.

Culinary Standards and Operations

  • Maintain food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Perform culinary and related kitchen duties during high-demand periods.
  • Oversee production and preparation of culinary items.
  • Coordinate restaurant and banquet service timing for events and meals.
  • Lead shifts while preparing food and executing requests to required specifications.
  • Prepare and cook foods for regular service, special guests, and functions.
  • Supervise cooks and food preparation workers.
  • Check raw and cooked food quality against standards.
  • Create decorative food displays and support food presentation decisions.

Culinary Team Activities

  • Supervise daily shift operations and ensure employees have required supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Supervise staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Ensure assigned duties are completed.
  • Participate in performance appraisals, employee recognition, and staff training.
  • Handle employee questions and concerns and communicate performance expectations.
  • Monitor employee progress toward performance expectations.

Goals and Customer Service

  • Participate in department meetings and communicate departmental goals.
  • Support new menus, concepts, and promotions for restaurant outlets and banquets.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations.
  • Handle guest problems and complaints, seeking supervisor assistance when necessary.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service within guidelines.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Report department equipment malfunctions.
  • Purchase supplies and manage food and supply inventories according to budget.
  • Attend and participate in pertinent meetings.

Schedule and Workplace

  • Full-time position located at West Bay, Doha, Qatar.
  • The position is not remote.
