Position Summary:
We are looking for a motivated Junior Quality Assurance Engineer Co-op to join our QA team. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, working directly with development team members.
This is an 8-month, fixed-term position based out of our Mount Pleasant office in Vancouver, following a hybrid work model with three in-office days per week.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Work closely with software engineering team to capture requirements for test automation framework, define process, setup and maintain automation framework and library of automated tests for web-based SaaS app
Work with product team to identify, document requirements and provide advice on company systems strategy, policy, security and service delivery
Write, execute, and monitor automated tests to analyze and publish results and interpretation, within scheduled deadlines
Set up test data as required to reproduce issues and execute positive, negative and edge case automation testing
Follow the process for defect management, release testing and overall product quality assurance
Create and maintain automated test process documentation, scripts and tools
Execute manual smoke and final acceptance testing as needed for software releases
As needed, assist support with reproducing, diagnosing and resolving customer issues
Use approved AI-assisted tools, such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, MCP integrations or similar technologies, to support defined Quality Assurance tasks - for example, drafting test cases & test plans from requirements, generating initial automation code, investigating test failures, or improving documentation. Review and validate generated outputs before using them.
What You’ll Bring:
Currently in a BSc degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent discipline
Strong development/programming skills are required
Course experience with the following technologies: C++/Java/.Net, Javascript, SQL, HTML
Project experience with source control systems such as Git, SVN, etc an asset
Experience working in project team
Self-starter looking to learn and contribute significantly to the team
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficient in the English language with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are a must for bug reporting, documentation, and teamwork with developers/PMs/QA
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, ability to spot edge cases, and basic troubleshooting skills
Familiarity through coursework, personal projects, or work experience with AI-assisted tools used for coding, test creation, debugging, requirements analysis, or technical documentation
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with UI automation frameworks (Cypress, Selenium, Playwright) and API testing tools (Postman, Insomnia, SoapUI, REST-assured).
Exposure to test, bug tracking and project management systems (Confluence, TestRail, Jira, Trello, Asana)
Basic idea of QA fundamentals: SDLC, testing levels (unit, integration, system, end-to-end), testing types (functional, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory, UAT), test case design techniques (boundary value, equivalence partitioning, decision tables), and defect lifecycle
Experience creating effective prompts or reusable instructions for software-development or testing tasks
Exposure to AI agents, MCP integrations, or AI-assisted workflows connected to development and testing tools
