The Mechanical Engineering Technologist position is detail-oriented and skilled. This position is required to support design, development, and production of heavy equipment attachments. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical systems, software, and have detailed knowledge of the manufacturing process.

Designing or providing details on designs
Conducting engineering analysis
Conducting finite element analysis to create reports or initiate design development
Making independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions

Eligible for registration with the ASET or APEGA
1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or similar environment
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes for steel fabrication
Broad theoretical engineering knowledge
Good knowledge about engineering practices and principles
Knowledge of legislation, rules, and regulations
Interpersonal skills to relate to co-workers at all levels
Proficient computer skills to use various software applications (CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks, etc.)
Communication skills to read, listen, write and speak in a clear and concise manner
Good organizational skills
Good time management skills to productively complete work and meet deadlines
Good analytical skills to diagnose the problem(s) and find acceptable solution(s)
Problem solving skills to methodically and logically work through technical and nontechnical problems and recommend solutions
Good report writing skills to create clear, concise reports
Research skills to conduct thorough studies
Presentation skills to deliver presentations
Mentorship skills to coach, guide and assist in developing staff
Interviewing skills to probe customers about their needs
