Overview

  • Under direction of the General Counsel, the junior Legal Counsel provides legal advice to all CPX business units on technology transactions, corporate governance, regulatory, compliance and intellectual property matters.
  • Responds promptly to requests for legal advice, and is responsible for negotiation of agreements with clients and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent advice and support to all CPX business units on technology transactions, labour and employment, regulatory, compliance and intellectual property rights.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements including non disclosure agreements and T&C's.
  • Support business units with development and revision of client and vendor agreements.
  • Assist General Counsel in rollout and implementation of CPX's compliance program.
  • Draft and implement policies and procedures related to labour law, supplier code of conduct, trade compliance, and data privacy and security.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and procedures.
  • Deliver trainings to CPX employees and stakeholders.
  • Help cross functional teams with risk management and enforcement of policies.
  • Assist with internal and external investigations, inquiries, and potential disputes.
  • Resolve issues in existing commercial relationships and handle pre litigation legal disputes.
  • Maintain compliance tracking system and risk register.

Qualifications

  • 1 3 years' PQE dealing with complex commercial, M&A, Private Equity and international technology related contracts.
  • Articling or foundational legal experience at a leading law firm or corporate legal department preferred.
  • Law degree from a recognized and reputable university.
  • Admitted as an attorney, barrister and/or solicitor in Australia, Canada, Europe, Ireland, the United Kingdom or the United States.
  • MBA, LLM and CIPP certification ideal but not required.
  • Bilingual (Arabic/English) preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent analytical skills, good judgment, organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Client service oriented with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proactive and positive team player.
  • Capacity to manage many files simultaneously, work well under pressure and exercise initiative.
  • Exceptional time management skills with ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
