Junior / Intermediate Soil Scientist

What you’ll bring to the role

• Technical Diploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. from an accredited institution in Soil Science, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related discipline.
• Typically 1-5 years of relevant environmental consulting, reclamation, soils, or land management experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian System of Soil Classification and practical field application of soil survey and soil characterization techniques.
• Experience supporting reclamation assessments, environmental monitoring, and regulatory reporting programs.
• Knowledge of soil, vegetation, and landscape interactions and a genuine interest in advancing environmental stewardship and sustainable land management practices.
• Experience participating in contaminated site investigations, environmental sampling programs, and environmental data interpretation.
• Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise technical reports.
• Strong organizational and project coordination capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic consulting environment.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with the ability to travel regularly for field assignments.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied terrain, weather conditions, and extended field schedules when required.
• Eligibility for registration, or current registration, with a relevant professional organization such as: Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA) Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB) College of Alberta Professional Foresters (CAPF) Other applicable professional regulatory organizations
• Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA)

• College of Alberta Professional Foresters (CAPF)
• Other applicable professional regulatory organizations
• Vegetation survey experience, plant taxonomy expertise, and rare plant identification experience are considered strong assets.
• Experience working within environmental consulting, energy, mining, infrastructure, industrial, or resource development sectors is considered an asset.
