Role overview

Emergency response

• Respond to fire alarms, chemical spills, gas leaks, and other on-site emergencies.
• Operate fire tenders, hydrant systems, extinguishers, SCBA sets, rescue tools, alarm panels, and gas suppression systems.
• Conduct firefighting operations for chemical, electrical, flammable-liquid, and other fires.
• Assist with rescue operations, first aid, evacuation, and Emergency Response Team activities.

Plant safety and inspections

• Patrol the plant and monitor hot work, confined-space entry, shutdown activities, and other high-risk operations.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety rules and permit-to-work procedures.
• Monitor hazardous-material storage areas, flammable zones, and process units for fire hazards.
• Inspect and maintain fire protection, alarm, suppression, emergency, and rescue equipment.
• Test fire pumps and maintain inspection and equipment logbooks.

Training and records

• Participate in mock drills, fire drills, and emergency preparedness exercises.
• Train employees and contractors on fire safety, extinguisher use, evacuation, and emergency response.
• Support HSE awareness campaigns and safety programs.
• Maintain records of inspections, incidents, drills, and equipment maintenance.
• Assist with root-cause analysis of fire-related near misses and incidents.

Required qualifications

• Minimum 12th-pass education in the science stream.
• Successful completion of the Fireman Training course from SFTC, the Maharashtra State Fire Training Center.
• Valid Heavy Motor Vehicle driving license.
• 2 to 5 years of firefighting operations experience, preferably in chemical, petrochemical, or manufacturing industries.

Required skills

• Strong technical fire knowledge and hands-on firefighting and rescue skills.
• Understanding of chemical hazards and site-specific safety procedures.
• High physical fitness and mental alertness.
• Effective utilization of fire hoses, branches, fire tenders, and emergency equipment.
• Fireman course, industrial fire safety training, first aid or CPR, and SCBA proficiency are preferred.

Standards and external response

• Follow applicable industry standards and statutory requirements, including Factory Act, NFPA, and OISD guidelines.
• Respond to external emergencies when summoned by local fire authorities with internal approvals.
