Key skills for this role
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or a data intensive related field plus at least one (1) years’ experience as a Data Engineer or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Data Engineering related certification from at least one cloud service provider preferred (e.g. Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate).
Experience developing in SQL languages such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, Databricks SQL
Experience implementing data infrastructure, database, and data solutions with on-prem and cloud tools.
Demonstrated hands-on experience optimizing data solutions and pipelines ensuring scalability, performance, and cost effectiveness are addressed.
Knowledge of Python, Scala, and Spark with an ability to write efficient and scalable code for data processing/transformation tasks would be an asset.
Demonstrated understanding of coding best practices would be an asset.
Experience in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing architecture with solid knowledge of various industry standards would be an asset.
Understanding of software data development, deployment and release processes, and automated test frameworks.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP and related data services (e.g Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake) would be an asset.
Demonstrated analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills including strengths in working in a team environment with a client/user orientation.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
