Job Overview
Citi is seeking an experienced Java Backend Development Lead to lead design, development, and deployment of AI-powered platforms.
The role combines hands-on backend engineering, team leadership, scalable architecture, and collaboration with data science teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor backend developers in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Design scalable backend services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and secure engineering practices.
- Integrate and deploy AI/ML models with data scientists and machine learning engineers.
- Design APIs and data pipelines for real-time inferencing and model retraining.
- Oversee requirements, technical design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance across the software lifecycle.
- Champion code quality, unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and engineering teams on requirements, priorities, and delivery.
- Research emerging backend, artificial intelligence, and machine learning technologies and evaluate new tools.
Required Qualifications
- At least 12 years of professional backend software development experience with strong Java expertise.
- At least 8 years of experience in technical leadership or lead developer roles delivering complex projects.
