JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE The LAN Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the local area network (LAN) infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.
This role supports organizational goals by ensuring reliable network connectivity and efficient data communication across the company.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime.
Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls and antivirus software.
Perform regular data backups and disaster recovery operations.
Provide technical support and training to end-users regarding network usage and best practices.
Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
Collaborate with IT team members to plan and implement network upgrades and expansions.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards for network security and data protection.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in network administration or a similar role.
Skills & Competencies: Proficiency in network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent.
Experience with network management tools and monitoring software.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud computing.
