Senior Software Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer to support our IT – Application Development team.
Position Overview
The Senior Software Engineer designs, implements and supports “in-house” corporate web applications linked to Business Central, specifically our main ERP and P2P (Procure-to-Pay) solution that supports core organizational functions and ensure their high availability. The incumbent also provides support to the other Solution Developers with the architecting, coding and testing of software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Planning
- Participate in the design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate web applications and software
- Develop and implement application standards that are aligned with organizational goals and objectives
- Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications
- Work with the planned phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects
- Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of web application development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
- Acquisition & Development
- Where applicable, design, develop, & implement software and functionality for corporate systems
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades
- Operational Management
- Design and develop web-based software programs, reports and applications according to specifications
- Identify and correct bugs and design errors
- Identify and implement optimizations to code and processes to improve performance and resource intensive activities
- Write complex data queries or applications to extract and/or manipulate large data sets
- Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members.
- Liaise with team to assist in resolving problems with software and corporate systems.
- When required, field incoming requests to the Service Desk via both telephone and e-mail to ensure courteous, timely and effective resolution of end user issues
Education, Training, and Experience
Excellent understanding of best practices for coding methodologies
Skill in the design, use and maintenance of relational databases, custom data models
Proven ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, influence solution design decisions, and contribute to a high-performing development team.
Ability to collaborate and support other peer developers
Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making abilities
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment
Mandatory
University Degree in Programming, Computer Science and/or Database Development/Administration
5+ years proven experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying full-stack applications end-to-end
Proven experience contributing to or owning test plans, test coverage, and quality practices
Strong proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript in modern application development
Proficient with building backend services using Node.js, including API design and performance considerations
Proficiency with unit and component testing using React Testing Library
Proficiency in building and deploying applications on Microsoft Azure and experience working with Azure SQL/Managed Instances
Proficiency with designing and consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
Solid knowledge of Agile development and project management methodologies
Preferred
Proficiency with Azure logic Apps, Azure APIM
Proficiency with Azure Service Bus, Azure Event grid, Azure blob storage, Azure communication services
Proficiency with code repository standards, including branching techniques and CI/CD deployments
Familiarity with implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth, JWT)
Working knowledge of other programming languages including .NET (C#), Java
Working knowledge of building responsive, production-grade frontends using modern frameworks and component libraries (e.g., React, Material UI, Tailwind)
Familiarity with both monolithic and microservices architectures, with an understanding of trade-offs
Working knowledge of application security best practices (e.g., OWASP, NIST) applied in development
Experience working directly with Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies is considered an asset. Candidates who have built AI-enabled applications, developed AI workflows or agents, implemented vector search and RAG architectures, or contributed to model training, evaluation, or optimization initiatives will be viewed favorably.
Travel
Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.

MMC is a Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) employer offering a comprehensive benefits package and flexible hybrid work options. The targeted hiring range of this role is $95,821 - $125,000 dependent on experience. This job posting is for new vacancies.
