Precision Recruitment International is seeking an IT Project Manager for shipping systems to plan, govern, and deliver IT projects across shipping operations. The role requires hands-on technical skills, vendor management, and experience in shipping industry systems.

Responsibilities
- End to end project ownership: plans, budgets, risk registers, and stakeholder reporting
- Lead steering committee governance and vendor/contract management including SLAs
- Coordinate delivery across internal development teams and third party shipping system providers
- Provide technical direction for development, integration, and customization of shipping management systems
- Review technical specifications, solution architecture, and API/integration deliverables
- Remain hands on in solution design where project complexity demands it
- Lead AI and automation integration projects across Shipping, Bunkering, HR & Finance
- Champion digital transformation; manage change, adoption, and training across sites
- Oversee system resilience, security, and UAT/cutover planning across the Group
- Manage user access and infrastructure projects in multi site, low connectivity environments
- Implement company own secure services with emphasis on cybersecurity
- Overlook and drive implementation of group wide IT infrastructure
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
- Formal PM qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred; demonstrated PM experience mandatory
- Minimum 3 years hands on software development
- Minimum 3 years direct shipping industry experience
- Working knowledge of shipping line operational systems: vessel scheduling, port operations, cargo/container management, and agency workflows
- Proven experience with customer facing shipping systems: booking portals, freight rate management, B/L issuance, cargo tracking, and client reporting tools
- Experience managing implementation or customization of commercial shipping platforms
- Demonstrated AI, automation, or data integration project delivery

Role Purpose
- Plans, governs, and delivers IT projects across Civitas Partners' shipping operations.
- Bridges technical development and operational management — leading cross functional teams, managing vendors, and driving implementation of proprietary and commercial shipping systems.
- Expected to be technically hands on with the credibility to engage developers, system integrators, and operational stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management & Delivery: End to end project ownership: plans, budgets, risk registers, and stakeholder reporting.

- Systems Development Oversight: Technical direction for development, integration, and customization of shipping management systems.

Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- Formal PM qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred; demonstrated PM experience mandatory.
- Minimum 3 years hands on software development — must be able to review technical outputs and engage credibly with developers.
- Minimum 3 years direct shipping industry experience — candidates without shipping experience will not be considered.
- Working knowledge of shipping line operational systems: vessel scheduling, port operations, cargo/container management, and agency workflows.
- Proven experience with customer facing shipping systems: booking portals, freight rate management, B/L issuance, cargo tracking, and client reporting tools.
- Experience managing implementation or customization of commercial shipping platforms.
- Demonstrated AI, automation, or data integration project delivery.
- Advantageous: Sub Saharan Africa / Indian Ocean market experience.
- Multi currency / USD denominated system exposure.
