This internship provides support to technical employees at a GD-OTS location.
The work is related to the intern's area of technical study and includes project support and technical task assistance.
Essential Functions
- Assist technical employees with technical tasks and project support.
- Set up equipment and monitor tests and experiments.
- Observe results, collect data, and compile summaries and reports.
- Learn technical processes and procedures through work and job shadowing.
- Support documentation updates for procedures or work instructions.
- Handle basic issues and problems.
Required Qualifications
- Be currently enrolled in related technical courses or be within six months of graduation.
- Be enrolled in a technical college or degree-seeking program.
- No prior experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
- Be attentive and able to understand and follow directions.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Remain in a stationary position at a desk or computer for extended periods.
- Move regularly throughout GD-OTS facilities and stand for long periods when needed.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety or health hazard potential.
- This position is safety-sensitive.
Travel
- No or very little travel is likely.
