Build the data layer behind GitLab Security’s vulnerability and dependency management capabilities.
Design and develop systems that ingest, store, index, and query security report data.
Work hands-on across Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and newer services while developing security-domain expertise.
What you’ll do
- Ship scoped features that improve security report ingestion reliability and query performance.
- Develop PostgreSQL systems supporting vulnerability and dependency management.
- Build Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL systems and contribute to Go or Rust services.
- Integrate with key third-party security systems.
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
- Collaborate with product and engineering partners and deliver within monthly releases.
- Apply security considerations to malicious or vulnerable software packages.
What you’ll bring
- Professional backend engineering experience shipping production features on a collaborative team.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL indexes, query plans, and schema design.
- Professional experience with Ruby on Rails, Go, or Python, with day-to-day Ruby on Rails comfort.
