Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement electrical systems for transportation infrastructure projects, including traffic signal systems and highway lighting systems.
- Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation in accordance with applicable standards.
- Perform design reviews to ensure technical accuracy, code compliance, and project requirements are met.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support the integration of electrical infrastructure within broader project designs.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineering and design personnel during project execution.
- Support project coordination activities, including participation in client meetings and technical discussions.
- Conduct field inspections and site reviews to verify installation quality and compliance with approved designs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, electrical codes, and industry standards throughout project delivery.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation supporting design development, quality assurance, and project approvals.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of departmental standards, templates, and engineering procedures.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta)
Minimum 4+ years of electrical engineering experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience designing and managing one or more of the following:
Traffic Signal Design
Highway Lighting Design
Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable municipal, provincial, and industry standards.
Experience preparing engineering documentation, specifications, reports, and design deliverables.
