Instrument Technician

Location: Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s and Sunshine Hospitals

Employment Type: Part-Time, Ongoing

Salary: Grade 4 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging

About the role:

The Western Health Central Sterilisation and Supply Departments (CSSD) at Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s (JKWC) Hospital/Sunshine Hospital have multiple vacancies available for suitably qualified Instrument Technicians.

Instrument Technicians with a minimum of 2 years’ experience are encouraged to apply to join our team.

Grading will be in accordance with the applicable Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA).

The JKWC/Sunshine CSSDs support and provide a high standard of sterilisation services to the Operating Suite, Birthing Suite, Outpatient departments, ICU, Emergency department and wards.

Key responsibilities:

Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing of reusable medical devices in accordance with national standards and hospital policies.

Understand and apply the principles of sterilization, disinfection and tracking in the CSSD environment.

Navigate the tracking system (Scancare) to support daily work requirement.

Work and contribute to a positive team environment.

Support knowledge and skills through ongoing education.

About you:

Hold Certificate 3 or 4 in Sterilization and a minimum of 2 years’ full-time CSSD experience.

Be available to work a rotating roster, Monday to Friday.

Be a positive team worker, who is flexible, has good organisation and tie management skills.

Have good computer skills to be able to effectively navigate the tracking system.

Enjoy learning and contributing to the team.

Be able to take direction from senior staff.
