- Experience teaching ESP for medical or health sciences students highly desirable
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty across disciplines

Qualifications & Experience (Required)
- A Ph.D is required in EFL/ESL/TESOL/TEFL.
- A Master's degree is required in EFL/ESL/TESOL/TEFL. Other master's degrees may be considered with additional certifications.
- All candidates must have demonstrable native or near native proficiency in English.
- At least three years of experience in teaching ESL/EFL at the university level in preparatory bridge programs/foundation programs.
- Flexibility and ability to teach English at all levels and Study Skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Interest in research and publication and knowledge of standardized exams such as IELTS are valued.
- Experience teaching abroad, in the Middle East, in Muslim cultures, and in the Gulf is a plus.
- Experience teaching ESP for medical or health sciences students is highly desirable.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty across disciplines, particularly in the medical sciences.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching load: 22 contact hours per week along with 5 office hours outside of lunch hour.
- 8 hours of grading and class preparation; may be required to share lesson plans with administrators.
- Five hours for department related work such as assessments, accreditation, proctoring, training, and committees.
- Teaching schedules may be from 8 am to 4 pm, but also evenings until 11 pm and weekends.
- Instructors may be assigned to work in other departments where needed, including Saturdays.
- Carry out the mission of the Preparatory Program including incorporating PMU Core Competencies.
- Follow set curriculum, student learning outcomes, assessment schedule, and department decisions.
- Plan effective lessons ahead of time, motivate students, and provide effective oral and written feedback.
- Follow good classroom management procedures contributing to positive learning atmospheres.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
Probationary Period
- New hires are subject to a ninety day probation period with possibility of multiple classroom observations.
