Role Overview
Carry out site inspection and surveillance of rail civil works to verify compliance with approved designs, specifications, and quality requirements.
Ensure materials and workmanship meet project and contractual quality standards before acceptance.
Site Inspection and Surveillance
- Conduct daily inspections of earthworks, concrete, structures, drainage, utilities, and other civil works.
- Perform inspections according to approved ITPs, method statements, and applicable hold or witness points.
- Verify materials and workmanship against approved drawings, specifications, project standards, and applicable codes.
- Witness concrete cube, compaction or density, welding, and other testing activities and verify results against acceptance criteria.
Non-Conformances and Quality Records
- Raise and track NCRs for work or materials that do not meet approved requirements through close-out.
- Complete inspection checklists, daily quality reports, and inspection request records.
- Maintain quality records, photographs, and supporting documentation for each inspection.
- Support quality documentation and test or inspection packages for handover and close-out.
Coordination and Compliance
- Coordinate inspection requests, hold or witness points, and inspection scheduling with contractor quality teams.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams on non-conformances, technical queries, and deviations.
- Support internal and external quality audits and inspections by providing records and evidence.
- Report findings, quality trends, and recurring issues to the QA/QC Manager and escalate significant concerns.
- Ensure compliance with the project Quality Management Plan, applicable codes and standards, and contractual quality requirements.
- Support contractor personnel in understanding and meeting quality requirements.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five years of inspection or site supervision experience.
- Knowledge of construction quality procedures.
- Middle East or UAE experience is highly advantageous.
- Rail experience is preferable.
Education
- University degree, or demonstrated equivalent experience, in civil engineering or inspection.
