Role Overview

The QA/QC Inspector (Rail) conducts site inspections and surveillance of civil works.

The role verifies compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality requirements, and contractual standards before acceptance.

Site Inspection and Surveillance

  • Conduct daily inspections of earthworks, concrete, structures, drainage, and utilities.
  • Inspect work according to approved ITPs, method statements, and hold or witness points.
  • Verify materials and workmanship against drawings, specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Witness concrete cube, compaction or density, welding, and other testing activities.
  • Inspect subgrade, embankments, concrete works, bridges, culverts, retaining walls, buildings, drainage, and utilities.

Non-Conformances and Records

  • Raise and track non-conformance reports through close-out.
  • Complete inspection checklists, daily quality reports, and inspection request records.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, photographs, and supporting documentation.
  • Support quality documentation and test or inspection packages for handover and close-out.

Coordination and Compliance

  • Coordinate inspection requests, hold points, witness points, and schedules with contractor quality teams.
  • Coordinate with design and engineering teams on non-conformances, technical queries, and deviations.
  • Support internal and external quality audits and inspections.
  • Report inspection findings, quality trends, and recurring issues to the QA/QC Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management Plan, applicable codes, and contractual quality requirements.
  • Promote quality awareness and help contractor personnel meet quality requirements.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum five years of inspection or site supervision experience is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of construction quality procedures is mandatory.
  • Middle East or UAE experience is highly advantageous.
  • Rail experience is preferable.
  • A university degree or demonstrated equivalent experience in civil engineering or inspection is required.

Workplace and Onboarding

  • The inspection role involves civil works site activities.
  • New hires must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
