About the Role
MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to install and maintain air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems.

Responsibilities
- Install and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, including overhauling compressors and changing cooling units
- Install and maintain pneumatic electronic control systems, including adjustment and calibrating control devices and valves
- Service and maintain plant and instrument compressed air systems, oil burners, low pressure steam and hot water heating systems
- Install and maintain piping systems including steam/condensate, chilled water, process cooling, plant/instrument air, potable water, glycol, and refrigerant
- Provide 24 hour emergency response as necessary in support of mechanical systems
- Assist fellow trade and service workers as required
Requirements
- Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician’s license and five years’ experience in the refrigeration field
- Ability to read construction drawings and process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)
- Must be able to work all shifts as required
- Massachusetts Journeyman Pipe Fitter’s license with a minimum of three years’ experience (desired)
- Massachusetts Oil Burner Technician’s license (desired)

Description of Duties
- Install and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including overhauling compressors, changing cooling units, fitting rings, bearings, belt and shafts, repairing cooling/heating coils.
- Install and maintain pneumatic electronic control systems including adjustment and calibrating control devices and valves.
- Service and maintain plant and instrument compressed air systems, oil burners, low pressure steam and hot water heating systems.
- Install and maintain piping systems including steam/condensate, chilled water, process cooling, plant/instrument air, potable water, glycol, and refrigerant.
- Provide 24 hour emergency response as necessary in support of mechanical systems.
- Assist fellow trade and service workers as required.
- Climb and maneuver on ladders, staging and work platforms and/or tight spaces.
- Work on the Laboratories two steam shutdowns as needed.
Qualifications Required
- Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician’s license and five years’ experience in the refrigeration field required.
- Massachusetts Journeyman Pipe Fitter’s license with a minimum of three years’ experience desired.
- Massachusetts Oil Burner Technician’s license is desired.
- Ability to read construction drawings and process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs) is required.
- Must be able to work all shifts as required by MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
