About the Role
ONYX NOVA is seeking a hands-on HVAC Application & Field Engineer to assess customer sites, select dehumidification solutions, and integrate them with existing HVAC systems. The role requires strong practical knowledge of HVAC airside systems, site inspections, and client communication.

Responsibilities
- Conduct technical site inspections at various properties
- Inspect existing HVAC and ventilation systems including AHUs, FCUs, FAHUs, packaged units, ducts, fresh air and exhaust systems
- Review HVAC drawings, duct layouts, equipment schedules and technical specifications
- Measure or verify airflow, temperature and relative humidity conditions at site
- Assess humidity sources, ventilation rates, infiltration and fresh air loads
- Calculate required dehumidification capacity and recommend appropriate units
- Determine installation location and integration method for each dehumidifier
- Develop practical integration concepts for various configurations
- Evaluate airflow availability and impact on existing HVAC system
- Identify risks such as insufficient airflow, air bypass, short circuiting, excessive static pressure, condensation, noise, vibration
- Recommend duct modifications, balancing dampers, access panels, insulation, condensate drainage
- Prepare technical installation concepts, mark ups, sketches and scopes of work
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience in HVAC, ventilation or airside systems
- Strong hands on experience with HVAC installations, site inspections, troubleshooting or project execution
- Practical knowledge of airflow calculations, duct sizing, pressure drop, external static pressure, fan performance, supply and return air systems, fresh air ventilation, AHUs, FAHUs, FCUs, packaged AC units, air balancing, duct insulation, condensation prevention, condensate drainage
- Ability to understand HVAC drawings, equipment schedules, technical datasheets and fan performance information
- Ability to convert site conditions and customer requirements into a practical installation solution
- Experience working directly with technicians, duct installers and MEP contractors
- Ability to communicate technical matters clearly to customers
- Good written and spoken English
- Valid UAE driving licence
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Refrigeration or related discipline preferred

- We are looking for a hands on HVAC engineer who will become the company’s key technical specialist and support the development of our dehumidification and indoor air quality projects.
Role Overview
- The HVAC Application & Field Engineer will be responsible for assessing customer sites, selecting suitable dehumidification solutions and determining the correct method of integration with existing air conditioning and ventilation systems.
- The role requires strong practical knowledge of HVAC airside systems, airflow, ductwork and equipment installation.
- The successful candidate must be able to inspect an existing HVAC system, understand how air is moving through it and recommend where and how a dehumidifier should be installed.
- This is a practical, customer facing engineering role combining site inspections, technical calculations, solution design, installation support and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical site inspections at villas, apartments, hotels, commercial facilities, warehouses and other properties.
- Inspect existing HVAC and ventilation systems, including AHUs, FCUs, FAHUs, packaged units, supply and return air ducts, fresh air systems and exhaust systems.
- Review HVAC drawings, duct layouts, equipment schedules and technical specifications.
- Measure or verify airflow, temperature and relative humidity conditions at site.
- Assess humidity sources, ventilation rates, infiltration and fresh air loads.
- Calculate the required dehumidification capacity and recommend the appropriate number and model of units.
- Determine the most effective installation location and integration method for each dehumidifier.
- Develop practical integration concepts for various configurations.
- Evaluate airflow availability and confirm whether the existing HVAC fan can provide sufficient airflow through the dehumidifier.
- Assess the effect of the proposed installation on external static pressure and the performance of the existing HVAC system.
- Review duct dimensions, velocities, pressure drops, filters, grilles, dampers, flexible ducts and other components affecting airflow.
- Identify risks such as insufficient airflow, air bypass, short circuiting between supply and return air, excessive static pressure, condensation inside ducts, noise, vibration and improper condensate drainage.
Additional Responsibilities
- Recommend duct modifications, balancing dampers, access panels, insulation, condensate drainage and other installation requirements.
- Prepare technical installation concepts, mark ups, sketches and scopes of work for contractors.
- Explain technical solutions clearly to customers, consultants, MEP contractors and installation teams.
- Answer customer questions regarding compatibility, airflow, static pressure, duct integration, condensation risk, condensate drainage, electrical requirements, controls and expected performance.
- Support the sales team during technical discussions and customer meetings.
- Coordinate with MEP contractors, ducting contractors, electricians and other subcontractors.
- Supervise or inspect installations and confirm compliance with the approved technical solution.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, airflow balancing and performance verification.
- Investigate underperforming installations and identify the root cause.
- Prepare site inspection reports, equipment selection calculations, technical proposals and commissioning reports.
- Build and maintain internal engineering standards and typical installation solutions for ONYX NOVA products.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience in HVAC, ventilation or airside systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous UAE or GCC experience.
- Experience with dehumidification, humidity control, indoor air quality or fresh air treatment systems.
- Experience with residential villas and retrofit HVAC projects.
- Knowledge of psychrometrics, latent and sensible loads, dew point and moisture load calculations.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or another tool for reviewing and marking up HVAC layouts.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and UAE HVAC requirements.
- Experience in testing and commissioning or TAB — Testing, Adjusting and Balancing.
Important Profile Requirements
- This position is not suitable for an engineer whose experience is limited only to office based design or theoretical calculations.
- We are looking for someone who understands how HVAC systems work in real site conditions, can inspect an installation personally, is comfortable working above ceilings and on rooftops, can identify practical installation problems, can communicate with both customers and technicians, takes ownership
Success in This Role
- The engineer will be considered successful when equipment is selected correctly for each project, dehumidifiers are integrated without negatively affecting the existing HVAC system, installation teams receive clear and practical instructions, technical questions from customers are answered promptly
