The Opportunity
The company is seeking a strategic, hands-on Human Resources Director with strong private security or building services industry experience.
The role leads HR and recruitment functions across expanding operations in the GTA and beyond.
The position combines senior leadership with direct involvement in talent acquisition, employee and labour relations, performance management, and daily HR operations.
The successful candidate will support a large, unionized workforce in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
Compensation
- Compensation is $80,000 to $150,000 annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business objectives and lead the HR and recruitment teams.
- Lead end-to-end recruitment, build candidate pipelines, and support staffing needs for new contracts and multi-site operations.
- Manage employee concerns, investigations, discipline, grievances, conflict resolution, union relationships, and collective agreement administration.
- Advise managers on attendance, performance, accommodations, leaves, corrective action, and terminations.
- Oversee onboarding, performance management, engagement, succession planning, and employee development.
- Maintain HR policies, procedures, confidential records, and compliance with applicable Ontario requirements.
- Oversee payroll processing and coordinate with payroll and finance to resolve discrepancies.
- Oversee HR systems and recruitment software, improve workflows, monitor metrics, manage budgets, and lead change initiatives.
Qualifications
- Substantial HR leadership experience in the private security or building services industry is required.
- Direct experience supporting a large, unionized workforce is required.
- Experience with high-volume recruitment, multi-site operations, and 24/7 service staffing demands.
- Experience leading HR and recruitment teams across strategic and operational work.
- Experience with labour relations, collective agreements, grievances, discipline, and union relationships.
- Working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, human rights, workplace safety, and accessibility requirements.
- Experience with payroll, confidential records, HR information systems, and recruitment software.
- Strong communication, negotiation, investigation, conflict-resolution, analytical, organizational, budgeting, and project-management skills.
