About The Job

Kent is looking for an HSSE Advisor – UK to be based in Aberdeen.

Provide day-to-day HSSE support to UK operations, ensuring compliance with company HSSE requirements, applicable legal obligations, and ISO 14001/45001 management system requirements.

Support managers and employees in maintaining a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace through inspections, monitoring, training, incident management and practical HSSE advice.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HSSE advice and support to managers and employees across UK operations.
  • Promote compliance with company HSSE procedures, standards, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, assessments, and monitoring activities to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Participate in internal audits and support the closeout of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Assist managers in the development, review, and implementation of risk assessments and associated control measures.
  • Conduct Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments and provide practical recommendations to reduce risk.
  • Monitor workplace activities and conditions to ensure hazards are identified and risks are effectively managed.
  • Ensure hazards, incidents, and near misses are reported and recorded in accordance with company requirements.
  • Participate in incident investigations and support the identification of root causes, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
  • Monitor and verify the timely completion of corrective and preventive actions arising from incidents, audits, inspections, and assessments.
  • Deliver HSSE inductions, awareness sessions, and training programmes to employees and contractors as required.
  • Support HSSE campaigns, initiatives, and engagement activities that promote positive safety behaviours and environmental awareness.
  • Assist in maintaining emergency preparedness arrangements and participate in emergency response exercises and drills.
  • Maintain HSSE records, registers, databases, and documentation in accordance with company requirements.
  • Compile HSSE performance data and prepare reports as required by management.
  • Monitor completion of mandatory HSSE training and support compliance with training requirements.
  • Support the onboarding, training, and ongoing development of office HSSE Champions, ensuring they understand their roles, responsibilities, and HSSE expectations.
  • Promote a positive HSSE culture through engagement, coaching, communication, and visible HSSE leadership.
  • Provide practical HSSE guidance to employees, supervisors, and managers within their area of responsibility.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the role as directed by the line manager.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.

The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently.

All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge And Qualification And Training And Certification

  • NEBOSH General certificate. NEBOSH Diploma Preferred or working towards.
  • Lead Auditor ISO 14001:2015 or ISO 45001:2018.
  • Experience of effective HSSE risk management and the hierarchy of controls.
  • Experience of developing compliance obligations in differing geographies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards and effective auditing.
  • Experience of developing effective HSSE management system procedures.
  • Experience of effective root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of OSHA incident classifications and incident frequency rate formulae.
  • Experience in developing and delivering effective HSSE training packages.
  • Experience of coaching HSSE champions in continued professional development.

Communication

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience of managing teams.
