HSE Engineer

Role overview

Work setting

• Site-based supervision role requiring extensive experience with engineering consultants on infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.

HSE supervision responsibilities

• Monitor contractor compliance with HSE requirements, specifications, and approved safety plans.
• Conduct inspections, audits, safety observations, and corrective action follow-up across infrastructure works.
• Review method statements, risk assessments, permit systems, and emergency response procedures.
• Monitor excavation, utilities, traffic management, lifting, and confined space activities.
• Investigate incidents, review HSE performance, and prepare recurring safety reports.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions while maintaining HSE records.

Environmental and stakeholder duties

• Monitor waste management, dust control, noise mitigation, and other environmental protection measures.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, project stakeholders, and the Resident Engineer to improve safety performance.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent professional HSE qualification.
• Eight to twelve years of overall experience, including at least five years in Saudi Arabia.
• Infrastructure supervision experience with transportation, roads, highways, utilities, and consultant-side delivery.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi HSE regulations and infrastructure construction risks.

Additional qualifications

• Saudi Council of Engineers registration is preferred.
• Construction safety certifications and training are advantageous.
• Excellent English report writing and communication skills are required.
