Company Description

  • Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) is a State Corporation established under the KICD Act No. 4 of 2013.
  • The Institute is responsible for developing curricula and curriculum support materials for all levels of education below the university level in Kenya.
  • KICD produces curriculum support materials in both print and digital formats to enhance teaching and learning nationwide.

Role Description

  • The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a full time, on site role based in Nairobi County, Kenya.
  • The CEO will provide strategic leadership and overall management of KICD, ensuring that the Institute fulfills its mandate of curriculum development and production of support materials.
  • Daily responsibilities include overseeing operations, guiding long term planning, managing financial resources, and aligning organizational activities with national education policies and standards.
  • The CEO will lead senior management, foster collaboration with government bodies and education stakeholders, and promote innovation in print and digital curriculum solutions.
  • The role also involves reporting to the Board, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, driving performance and accountability, and representing KICD in national and international forums.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Finance and Business Planning to manage budgets, allocate resources, and support long term institutional sustainability.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Operations Management to oversee day to day activities, optimize processes, and ensure efficient delivery of curriculum services.
  • Proven ability in Strategic Planning to set organizational direction, develop and implement policies, and align initiatives with national education goals.
  • Experience in Sales and stakeholder engagement to promote KICD products and services, build partnerships, and expand institutional reach.
  • Advanced leadership and people management skills, with experience leading diverse teams and fostering an inclusive, performance driven culture.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for working with government agencies, education partners, and the public.
  • Sound understanding of the education sector, curriculum development processes, and digital learning trends.
  • Relevant postgraduate degree in Education, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; professional qualifications in management or leadership are an added advantage.
