Heavy Equipment Operator

• Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers and other machinery as required
• Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure equipment is in safe and working order
• Fuel, grease, and conduct regular routine maintenance on equipment
• Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure the safety of crew members and equipment on job sites
• Read and interpret site plans, grades, and instructions as needed for accurate excavation
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors and team members to ensure smooth project completion
• Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Report equipment issues or unsafe site conditions promptly to supervisors
• Responsible for transportation to and from job sites
• Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
• General labour duties on site
• Other duties will be assigned as required

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, such as excavators, loaders, dozers and skid steers
• Prior experience in the excavating and civil construction industry is required
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, locates, and set/check grades
• Safety-focused, with a solid understanding of job site hazards and safe operating practices
• WHMIS & Occupational Health & Safety Training required (or willingness to complete prior to starting)
• Working at Heights and First Aid certification are considered strong assets
• Team-orientated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
• Dependable, punctual, and professional at all times
• Physically fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report equipment issues when necessary
