Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

Up to $50/hour | Full-Time | Permanent | Blumenort, MB + Remote Project Sites

Penn-co Construction is looking for an experienced Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our Service Department.

This position is based out of our shop in Blumenort, Manitoba, with travel to remote project locations as required.

If you are an experienced, self-motivated mechanic who is confident diagnosing and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment and enjoys the variety of both shop and field work, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, service, and repair a broad inventory of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, rock trucks, cranes, skid steers, telehandlers, and forklifts.
Perform maintenance and repairs on highway trucks and trailers, including brake systems, suspension, powertrains, and emissions systems.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance with a strong focus on hydraulic systems, as well as mechanical and electrical components.
Perform welding and fabrication repairs as required.
Troubleshoot issues and provide efficient on-site solutions to minimize downtime and support field operations.
Coordinate repair schedules with the Service Department Supervisor and site leadership; maintain strong communication with both.

Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is preferred. All levels will be considered, including apprentices.
Proficiency with Caterpillar ET and SIS diagnostic systems is a strong asset.
Strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience with heavy equipment and on-highway truck/trailer repairs.
Must supply own hand tools, travel toolbox, and shop cabinet.
Effective problem-solving abilities and strong diagnostic skills.
Reliable, organized, and capable of managing changing priorities.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license required; Class 1 or 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset.
Ability to travel to remote project locations for work assignments.
