About the Role
Aurora Cannabis seeks an HSE Specialist for its Bradford, ON facility to develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environment programs. The role requires 3-5 years of HSE experience, knowledge of occupational health and safety laws, and a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.

Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert to support facility leadership in HSE matters
- Identify and assess potential workplace risks and opportunities, investigate incidents, and develop, implement and monitor HSE programs
- Ensure all HSE incidents are properly documented and appropriate corrective actions identified are implemented within a timely manner
- Regularly review incident data to determine injury/risk trends and establish action plans as needed
- Oversee initiatives that educate employees about HSE, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Human Resources in managing Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims including return to work plans
- Ensure tools and equipment in the facilities meet industry standards, are installed properly and regularly inspected where required
- Schedule and support monthly JHSC meetings, including monthly workplace inspections
- Provide site support by attending department safety meetings, completing inspections, facilitating training, and creating communications as needed
- Conduct orientation and H&S training for new hires
- Conduct proactive assessments to evaluate workplace hazards and opportunities
- Work closely with leadership to drive and strengthen safety culture by resolving concerns and identify opportunities for improvements
Requirements
- Minimum 3 5 years of HSE experience
- Post secondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred
- CRSP designation is an asset
- Experience in Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical or Food Production is considered an asset
- Experience conducting HSE training and engagement programs across multiple departments and organizational levels
- Demonstrated success in leading incident investigations, hazard assessments, and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions
- In depth knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices, including local, provincial, and federal requirements
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, and influence cross functional teams to prioritize safety
- Strong communication & presentation skills

Job Summary

- In this role, you will support our River Facility (Bradford, Ontario) with nurturing a safe and healthy workplace.
- Reporting to the Manager of HSE, the HSE Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and improvement of all HSE programs within the facility, focusing on prevention to continually elevate the HSE culture.
- The role is also accountable to ensure site wide execution of HSE related programs and processes, as well ensure all HSE programs comply with company and regulatory requirements.

- In depth knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices, including local, provincial, and federal requirements (i.e. WSBC, WSIB, WHIMIS, etc.).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and influence cross functional teams to prioritize safety and achieve HSE objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with functional teams, leadership, employees, and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a solid customer service orientation.
