About The Role
A line advisory function that coordinates with the executive management to provide added value through proper management of risks.
The incumbent is also actively involved in communicating risk awareness and risk information to the management and staff of the bank.
The area of responsibility encompasses various risks, including Credit, Market, Operational, Interest rate, Liquidity, and Asset and Liability Management.
The job consists of managing the risk assets portfolios and the liaison between management, approving authorities, and the various Group Risk Units.
***Key Objectives:***
Credit Risk -
- Turnaround credit proposals within the stipulated time period.
- Support Group Head, Credit Risk in all credit risk matters, e.g., provide feedback on the bank credit portfolio performance, reporting requirements, etc
- Ensuring that the credit quality of the risk asset portfolio is maintained and that credit policies are kept current and in line with the strategic objectives set by the Executive Management.
- Manage periodic review processes of country limits, bank limits, large exposures, ECL computation, bond valuations, etc. as applicable for the branch
- Operational Risk - to facilitate the Bank's Operational Risk processes, including the annual ORSA process, weekly, monthly, and quarterly management information, risk event reporting, and business continuity planning.
- Risk Management Information - to provide management with relevant, timely, and accurate information relating to all aspects of financial risk, including credit portfolio risks, market, liquidity, and operational risks.
- Market Risk - Review and update of market risk and ALM-related policies. Monitoring risks as per limits set out in internal policies and statutory requirements.

- Risk Analysis and review of credit proposals
- Track Industry trends and prepare industry reports. Analysis and recommendation
- Identify deteriorating risk profiles in consultation with Group Head, Credit Risk (corporate, industry, or market).
- Ensure that credit procedures and Higher Credit Authorities instructions are well carried out and that credit policies are kept current and in line with the strategic objectives set by the Executive Management.
- Provide risk input on local credit procedures and other issues including credit risk weightage of the portfolio, documentation and products, as and when required.
- Sets up and develops criteria for defining the Bank’s risk threshold in terms of credit, market, operational and liquidity risks.
- Develops appropriate strategies or actions for mitigating risks as to ensure a sound risk asset structure for the Bank while complying with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Evaluates and analyzes the bank-wide risk profile by developing risk monitoring and risk management techniques which should be clearly articulated in written policies and procedures
- Develops and implements risk management processes and methodologies for the identification, measurement, evaluation and reporting of risk on a timely basis
- Monitors compliance of business units with the Bank’s policies, procedures and limits, and ensures that pertinent business units highlight exceptions to Management with its recommended action.
- Acts as an independent analytical resource highlighting potential over-exposures and threats, as well as potential opportunities to the Bank.
- Follow-up the market & legal developments and assist in the preparation of Industry Reports.
- Maintain and improve the Market Risk Governance Framework within which the Bank operates.
- Monitoring and validation of margin call requirements on Repurchase agreements etc
- Monitoring regulatory ratios such as Liquidity ratio, LCR and monitoring reports relating to market risk and raising alerts as necessary.
- Reviewing and monitoring compliance with policies relating to market risk
- Administration of the ORSA process and coordination with other departments to ensure effective implementation of the ORSA process.
- Monitoring and reporting to the Group Operational Risk Committee on operational risk incident/loss experience on entity, business line and event type basis.
- Risk Exposure Reports prepared on Monthly & Quarterly basis, for better Internal Controls.
- DFSA reports preparation on quarterly basis
- The incumbent must exercise due skill and diligence to ensure compliance with DFSA’s AML Module rules and regulations.
