Role Overview

Head of MEP role for a major hospitality development in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The position leads complete MEP delivery across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, ELV, BMS, and building-services disciplines.

The role covers design review, construction, testing, commissioning, and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for all MEP disciplines.
  • Manage consultants, contractors, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical specifications, and value-engineering proposals.
  • Coordinate MEP services with architectural and structural disciplines.
  • Monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and manage cost, quality, and programme impacts.
  • Lead commissioning, balancing, performance verification, QA/QC, cost control, recovery planning, team mentoring, and executive reporting.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 7–10 years of professional construction experience in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, plus at least 15 years of total senior construction experience.
  • Extensive MEP engineering and project management experience.
  • Experience delivering high-rise, five-star hospitality, luxury hotel, or major mixed-use projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing, ELV, BMS, commissioning, and contractor management.
  • Complex-project experience, strong leadership and stakeholder-management capabilities, and full professional English proficiency are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Saudi Arabia or GCC project experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Saudi Building Code and Civil Defence requirements is advantageous.
  • Arabic language skills are advantageous.

Workplace and Location

  • The role is permanently based on site in Makkah, five days per week.
  • The project is located in the Holy City of Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Contract and Compensation

  • The role is offered on a one-year renewable contract with a minimum expected duration of five years.
  • Annual base salary starts from SAR 960,000 gross, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Performance bonus may be equivalent to up to three months’ salary.
