Role overview

Lead and modernise UK IT operations across NewCold's automated cold-chain sites.

Act as the key link between UK operations and the global IT organisation.

The role covers operational stability, proactive service delivery and technology capability development.

Workplace and travel

  • This is a hybrid role with regular on-site presence required at Corby and Wakefield.
  • The role is based at the Corby site, with regular travel between Corby and Wakefield.
  • Occasional travel to Breda in the Netherlands and other European sites is required.
  • The role has accountability for on-call escalation rota quality, with flexibility during major incidents or customer-critical events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the UK IT team delivering first- and second-line support across MLS, TMS, MFCS, automation, EDI, infrastructure and site technology.
  • Ensure 24/7 support coverage, on-call rota oversight and consistent incident triage standards.
  • Maintain availability of systems supporting automated cranes, monorails, buffers and customer integrations.
  • Establish a UK IT Steering Group and ITIL-aligned incident, change and problem management processes.
  • Own infrastructure lifecycle planning, cybersecurity posture and disaster recovery testing.
  • Act as senior IT contact for key UK customers and improve proactive incident communication.
  • Lead, coach and develop the UK IT team through skills matrices, development plans and succession planning.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of WMS/TMS platforms and warehouse automation systems.
  • Experience with SQL or Progress DB troubleshooting and data analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of EDI standards, mapping and integration flows.
  • Good knowledge of switching, VLANs, Wi-Fi and wider network infrastructure.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and service management tooling such as TopDesk.
  • Proven IT team leadership in 24/7 operational environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business teams.
  • Experience working directly with external customers on IT issues and root cause analysis.
