About the Role
OC Pets is seeking an experienced Head Barista to lead coffee operations in Dubai. The role involves managing daily coffee bar operations, training baristas, maintaining specialty coffee standards, and ensuring exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the coffee bar.
- Prepare and serve high quality espresso based beverages and manual brew coffee to specialty standards.
- Dial in espresso throughout the day and adjust grinder settings.
- Maintain consistent beverage quality across every shift.
- Train, mentor, and develop baristas to specialty coffee standards.
- Create and maintain beverage recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor coffee quality through regular tasting and calibration sessions.
- Manage coffee bean inventory, rotation, freshness, and ordering.
- Oversee grinder calibration, espresso machine maintenance, cleaning schedules.
- Ensure strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering of supplies.
- Work with management on menu development and seasonal beverages.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of specialty coffee experience
- Previous experience as Head Barista, Senior Barista, Coffee Trainer, or Coffee Supervisor
- Strong knowledge of specialty coffee principles and modern preparation techniques
- Experience with commercial espresso machines (La Marzocco, Victoria Arduino, etc.)
- Advanced grinder calibration and espresso extraction skills
- Excellent milk steaming and latte art skills
- Experience preparing manual brews (V60, Chemex, AeroPress, etc.)
- Strong understanding of coffee origins, varieties, processing methods, roasting profiles
- Ability to evaluate coffee using sensory analysis and cupping techniques
- Experience training and developing barista teams
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent spoken English

About the Role

- The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the coffee bar, ensuring every cup meets specialty coffee standards while delivering an outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the coffee bar.
- Prepare and serve high quality espresso based beverages and manual brew coffee to specialty coffee standards.
- Dial in espresso throughout the day and adjust grinder settings according to bean age, humidity, temperature, and extraction results.
- Maintain consistent beverage quality across every shift.
- Train, mentor, and develop baristas to specialty coffee standards.
- Create and maintain beverage recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor coffee quality through regular tasting and calibration sessions.
- Manage coffee bean inventory, rotation, freshness, and ordering.

- Advanced grinder calibration and espresso extraction skills.
- Excellent milk steaming and latte art skills.
- Experience preparing manual brews including V60, Chemex, AeroPress, Kalita Wave, French Press, and batch brewing.
- Strong understanding of coffee origins, varieties, processing methods, roasting profiles, and flavor development.
- Ability to evaluate coffee using sensory analysis and cupping techniques.
- Experience training and developing barista teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certifications are highly preferred.
- Experience conducting cupping sessions and coffee education.
- Experience creating coffee menus and seasonal beverage programs.
- Knowledge of coffee equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Experience with inventory management, ordering, and cost control.
- Understanding of coffee shop workflow optimization and service standards.
