Reporting to the Foreman, the Finish Grader Operator – Earthworks is responsible for performing fine grading and final trim operations to achieve specified grades and tolerances on civil construction and site development projects.
This role plays a critical part in preparing surfaces for base, concrete, asphalt, and other downstream activities, requiring a high level of skill, attention to detail, and coordination with the field team.

Operate motor graders to perform finish grading and fine trim work to specified grades and tolerances
Read and interpret site plans, grades, stakes, and cut/fill information to execute accurate grading
Work closely with the Foreman, Lead Hand, and survey teams to achieve final grade requirements
Perform grading for subgrade, base preparation, roadways, pads, and site development areas
Ensure finished surfaces meet project specifications, quality standards, and drainage requirements
Make precise adjustments to blade controls to maintain smooth, consistent surfaces
Identify and communicate grade issues, design conflicts, or site constraints to the Foreman
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure safe operation
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area around active equipment
Support other earthworks activities as required while maintaining finish-grade priorities
What You Bring
3+ years of experience operating a motor grader in a civil construction or earthworks environment
3+ years of experience performing finish grading and fine tolerance work
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
Strong understanding of grades, slopes, crossfall and drainage principals
Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed
Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.
