Golf Course Maintenance Worker

• Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations that are applicable to position duties.
• Experience and knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in golf course turf irrigation maintenance and landscaping, construction, and related facility maintenance duties.
• Experience and knowledge of basic water hydraulics, turf, soil and tree water requirements.
• Experience and knowledge of pesticides/herbicide sprays used in the control of common insects, rodents and weed pests.
• Experience and knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and painting practices.
• Understand the dynamics of landscape irrigation systems.
• Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City personnel and the public.
• Ability to perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance activities.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Landscape or Golf Course Maintenance preferred but not required.
• Valid Texas driver's license with a driving record meeting policy standard.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings and background check
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and after hours (scheduled and non-scheduled)

While performing the essential functions of this position, there will be frequent exposure to varying weather conditions, including, wind, rain, snow, extreme hot and cold temperatures, and other weather events.

This position will be required to report to work in emergency situations.

Work is performed at outdoor work sites.

City approved safety shoes must be worn.

The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

The noise level is the work environment is usually loud.
