Role Overview
We're looking for a payroll operations specialist to join Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations team. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our payroll platform, which is natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products.
As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to build strong operational coverage, country-specific payroll expertise, and scalable processes across key markets.
This role, Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is an important hire for the team and will support payroll operations across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The role will manage defined payroll workflows and operational processes across these markets, support statutory payment and filing operations, partner with cross-functional teams and government agencies as needed to improve payroll quality and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can independently manage their workload, resolve moderately complex payroll and compliance issues with minimal supervision, and help strengthen the processes that support a reliable customer and product experience across APAC.
What you will do
Manage assigned payroll workflows across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, including country-specific statutory payments, filings, pensions, tax submissions, and recurring payroll deadlines.
Investigate and resolve customer, tax, filing, and compliance issues; escalate complex matters with clear context, evidence, and recommended next steps.
Coordinate with relevant government agencies, including the ATO, IRD, IRAS, CPF Board, and Ministry of Manpower, where needed.
Maintain clear communication with customers, government agencies, and cross-functional partners, ensuring timely updates and follow-through on open cases.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Payroll Operations to improve payroll accuracy, product quality, tooling, and operational workflows.
Create and maintain Jira tickets, case records, audits, reconciliations, documentation, and SOPs so issues and processes can be tracked, resolved, and repeated consistently.
What you will need
2–5 years of strong payroll operations experience across Australia, New Zealand, and/or Singapore, with demonstrated exposure to country-specific statutory filings, payments, pensions, tax submissions, year-end processes, and agency interactions.
Experience managing payroll cases, customer queries, operational tickets, reconciliations, audits, or recurring payroll deadlines with minimal follow-up.
Ability to resolve moderately complex payroll issues, identify root causes, and escalate when deeper subject-matter or cross-functional support is needed.
Strong English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to keep customers, partners, and internal stakeholders informed on status, context, and next steps.
High attention to detail and a commitment to quality in time-sensitive payroll environments, including accurate documentation and practical SOP maintenance.
Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office for data analysis and workflow management; familiarity with Salesforce, Jira, and Confluence is a plus.
Ability to work Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) hours, approximately 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM IST.
