Role overview

Responsibilities and impact

• Partner with the Head of Technology for Enterprise Solutions to shape technology direction and strategy.
• Stress-test strategy against engineering, regulatory, and operational constraints.
• Translate strategy into designs that senior engineering, platform, and product teams can build and operate.
• Engage in complex or high-risk initiatives, major incidents, and recovery efforts.
• Lead architecture, design, and delivery decisions across multiple teams through influence rather than line management.
• Represent technology direction and explain design trade-offs to clients and senior stakeholders.
• Coach senior engineers and architects through problem solving, design reviews, and practical guidance.

Experience and qualifications

• 25+ years building and operating systems in tier-1 banks, capital markets infrastructure, or similarly regulated, high-availability environments.
• Experience owning or deeply influencing production systems under real load and working effectively with senior engineers and code.
• Experience setting technology strategy and architecture for complex, regulated, data-driven platforms.
• Strong banking and financial-services domain experience, including relevant markets, lending, securities, lifecycle, or reporting workflows.
• Experience defining multi-year technology strategies, roadmaps, reference architectures, design standards, and guardrails.
• Strong judgment designing distributed, event-driven, and data-intensive systems for scale, failure, recovery, and risk isolation.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and trade-offs involving managed services, multi-region, multi-tenant, residency, cost, performance, and resilience.
• Knowledge of agent-based systems, service abstractions, semantic data models, knowledge graphs, and other advanced architecture paradigms.
• Experience ensuring AI-enabled systems are explainable, auditable, and operationally safe in regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of analytics, AI operations, identity, data protection, failure containment, security, and regulatory risk.

Technical and leadership skills

• Technology strategy, enterprise architecture, principal engineering, distributed systems, event-driven design, and data-intensive platforms.
• Cloud platforms, AI-enabled production systems, analytics operations, security controls, operational resilience, and regulatory technology.
• Clear communication, practical judgment, coaching, influence without authority, and outcome-focused decision-making.
