Role Overview

Business Responsibilities

• Develop global commodity and supplier strategies aligned with business objectives, market dynamics, and regional requirements.
• Lead supplier scouting, evaluation, selection, localization, supplier development, market intelligence, benchmarking, and should-cost analysis.
• Lead commercial negotiations, productivity improvements, cost reduction programs, and long-term supplier agreements.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, logistics, and project purchasing teams.

Delivery Responsibilities

• Coordinate demand forecasting, capacity alignment, and launch readiness with purchasing, supply chain, and logistics teams.
• Drive supplier risk assessments, contingency planning, new product launch support, localization projects, KPI tracking, escalations, and corrective actions.

Governance Responsibilities

• Act as the single point of contact for commercial and strategic matters related to assigned suppliers and commodities.
• Lead supplier performance reviews covering commercial results, quality, delivery, innovation, and sustainability.
• Monitor purchasing KPIs and ensure adherence to purchasing processes, compliance standards, and sustainability requirements.
• Provide management reporting, business analytics, recommendations, market insights, and sourcing expertise.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree such as B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or an MBA.
• At least 8 years of strategic purchasing experience with machined, casting, stamping, or sub-assembly parts process knowledge.
• Experience with technical documents such as bills of materials, drawings, and norms.
• Experience in cost engineering, should-cost analysis, commercial negotiation, contract management, data analytics, and KPI management.

Desired Skills

• SAP MM knowledge.
