Parsons is seeking a GIS Specialist to join its project team.
The role provides specialist geospatial support across infrastructure and airport-related project activities.
The position supports design, construction, commissioning, handover, and asset management information requirements.
Core GIS Responsibilities
- Lead GIS activities and maintain project databases, geodatabases, layers, metadata, and data standards.
- Collect, process, validate, analyze, and visualize spatial data.
- Integrate survey, CAD, BIM, GPS, satellite, drone, and field data into GIS platforms.
- Maintain accurate and traceable spatial information using approved coordinate systems.
- Develop maps, dashboards, reports, technical presentations, and other GIS visualization products.
- Support automated GIS workflows, data quality processes, and technical guidance for junior staff.
Airport and Infrastructure
- Maintain GIS datasets for airport terminals, airfields, runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, utilities, drainage, and external infrastructure.
- Identify spatial conflicts between proposed works, existing assets, utilities, and project interfaces.
- Support construction access, logistics, work zones, temporary facilities, and phased construction through GIS analysis.
- Coordinate airport utility and airside or landside asset information.
Data Management and Analysis
- Manage vector, raster, imagery, terrain, infrastructure, and asset datasets, including imports, exports, editing, and transformation.
- Establish validation rules and quality-control procedures for GIS data.
- Perform spatial analysis of proximity, connectivity, accessibility, utility corridors, interfaces, site constraints, and construction progress.
- Coordinate GIS data exchanges with consultants, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain data inventories, issue logs, backups, approvals, and traceability.
Survey, Engineering, and Handover
- Coordinate with Survey teams on control, coordinates, benchmarks, topographical surveys, as-built surveys, and field observations.
- Coordinate with civil, utilities, roads, drainage, structural, MEP, BIM, and other engineering disciplines.
- Support GIS-based asset registers and integration with CAFM, IWMS, EAM, or other asset management platforms.
- Verify final as-built GIS information and prepare complete handover datasets and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- A relevant bachelor's degree in GIS, Geomatics, Surveying, Geography, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required.
- At least 8 years of relevant GIS or geospatial information management experience is required.
- Major infrastructure, airport, transportation, utilities, or multidisciplinary construction project experience is required.
- Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, or an equivalent GIS platform is required.
- Strong knowledge of geodatabases, spatial analysis, data management, visualization, coordinate systems, and georeferencing is required.
- GIS integration with BIM, survey, asset management, and common data environments is required.
Additional Qualifications
- CAD and engineering data integration, including AutoCAD or Civil 3D, is highly desirable.
- Underground utilities and infrastructure GIS experience is preferred.
- Airport or airfield GIS and asset information experience is highly desirable.
- Python, FME, SQL, or related GIS automation knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills are required.
