Position Overview
As a Geotechnical Engineer at Cornerstone Geotech Services, you will conduct field investigations, analyze soil and rock conditions, and provide engineering solutions that support safe and effective design and construction. You will work on a variety of projects—from commercial and infrastructure developments to federal and municipal work—applying your technical expertise and field knowledge to ensure project success.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical investigations and subsurface explorations. • Analyze soil and rock data to assess site suitability and risk. • Perform construction materials testing and field inspections. • Design foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical systems. • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and recommendations. • Provide technical support and guidance to internal project teams. • Use engineering software for modeling and geotechnical analysis. • Collaborate with civil engineers, contractors, and stakeholders. • Visit construction sites to monitor work and resolve field issues. • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, specifications, and safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. • 1+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering or construction materials testing. • EIT certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GeoStudio, or similar geotechnical software. • Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles, soil mechanics, and foundation design. • Familiarity with stormwater management, hydraulics, or water treatment systems is a plus. • Experience with land surveying and/or drafting techniques a plus. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. • Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
