Geotechnical Engineer

Position Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations and subsurface explorations. • Analyze soil and rock data to assess site suitability and risk. • Perform construction materials testing and field inspections. • Design foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical systems. • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and recommendations. • Provide technical support and guidance to internal project teams. • Use engineering software for modeling and geotechnical analysis. • Collaborate with civil engineers, contractors, and stakeholders. • Visit construction sites to monitor work and resolve field issues. • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, specifications, and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. • 1+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering or construction materials testing. • EIT certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GeoStudio, or similar geotechnical software. • Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles, soil mechanics, and foundation design. • Familiarity with stormwater management, hydraulics, or water treatment systems is a plus. • Experience with land surveying and/or drafting techniques a plus. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. • Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
