Geotechnical Engineer (Infrastructure)

Job Description

Geotechnical Site Activities

• Supervise and witness ground investigations, including boreholes, trial pits, and in-situ testing.
• Supervise ground improvement, engineered fill placement and compaction, and verification testing.
• Verify compaction control and fill quality against density limits and air-void criteria under the RTA General Specification.

Technical Review

• Review contractor method statements, inspection and test plans, material submittals, prequalification packages, and geotechnical reports.
• Review ground improvement designs and execution, including dynamic compaction, vibro techniques, rapid impact compaction, CPT testing, and zone load tests.
• Assess geotechnical parameters and foundation submissions for MSE retaining walls and cut-and-cover underpass structures.

Testing and Coordination

• Witness and review pile and load testing where applicable.
• Coordinate geotechnical matters with the structural supervision team.

Requirements

• Experience supervising geotechnical activities for road or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to review contractor method statements, inspection and test plans, material submittals, prequalification packages, and geotechnical reports.
• Knowledge of compaction requirements, density limits, air-void criteria, and RTA General Specification requirements.
• Experience assessing geotechnical parameters and foundation-related submissions for retaining walls and underpass structures.
