Role Overview
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented G eotechnical Engineer to join our team! What You'll Be Doing: Planning and supervising geotechnical site investigations for island and coastal environments Coordinating marine and nearshore investigations in collaboration with marine operations teams. Logging soil and rock cores, classifying materials, and preparing factual ground investigation records Specifying appropriate laboratory tests for coastal, marine, and reclaimed soils Performing geotechnical analyses for island infrastructure such as quay walls, revetments, reclaimed platforms, buildings, roads, utilities, and coastal protection. Undertaking design calculations for foundations shallow, and deep piles, raft foundations, ground improvement, and retaining structures. Evaluating ground improvement options for reclaimed land and soft marine deposits Supporting the design and performance assessment of land reclamation works, breakwaters, revetments, and shore protection. Analyzing settlement and stability issues associated with reclamation fill, surcharge loading, and consolidation of underlying soils. Reviewing dredging, backfilling, and compaction methodologies and their geotechnical implications. Providing geotechnical input during construction, including review of contractor method statements, temporary works, and equipment selection. Planning and interpreting geotechnical monitoring for island structures, reclamation, and slopes. Preparing factual and interpretive geotechnical reports, design memos, and technical notes in accordance with project standards and client requirements. What Required Skills You'll Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering with geotechnical focus, or closely related discipline. 12 years of experience in geotechnical engineering for infrastructure or coastal/marine-related projects. Solid understanding of soil and rock mechanics Experience with planning and interpreting ground investigations Ability to derive geotechnical parameters from laboratory and field test results and apply them in design. Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software package Ability to prepare clear, traceable design calculations and design summaries. What Desired Skills You'll Bring: Experience on island developments, coastal resorts, ports, harbors, offshore platforms, or land reclamation projects. Familiarity with geotechnical challenges specific to island environments, such as soft marine clays, coral/calcarenite formations, high groundwater levels, and coastal erosion. Knowledge of seawall, breakwater, revetment, and quay wall geotechnical design principles.
