The Position
Van Oord is executing major dredging and ground improvement projects requiring geotechnical technical input during tender and execution stages.
The Geotechnical Engineer will support design and engineering for Dredging and Infra projects across the UAE.
The position is associated with project operations and a 40-hour work week.
Your Impact
- Act as the primary point of contact for geotechnical concerns from concept and design through execution.
- Provide geotechnical assessments, engineering solutions, risk evaluations, design checks, and technical deliverables.
- Support safe, efficient, practical, and innovative designs for complex infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to digitalization and automation of geotechnical design processes.
Role Duties
- Plan, supervise, and interpret geotechnical site investigations and soil surveys.
- Prepare technical advice and design recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, settlements, stability, ground improvement, and effects on surrounding structures.
- Contribute to new geotechnical design tools and methodologies.
- Provide geotechnical expertise and advice to internal stakeholders.
- Apply advanced soil modelling techniques and automated design processes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience designing and executing ground improvement projects.
- Experience with vibro compaction, vibro replacement, dynamic compaction, surcharge, vertical drains, or other soil improvement techniques.
- At least 4–5 years of relevant experience is preferred for the Medor Geotechnical Engineer position.
- Experience with PLAXIS and Deltares D-Series geotechnical software.
- Python, automation, and digital design tools are advantageous.
- Understanding of geotechnical investigations, ground improvement design methodologies, and construction monitoring.
- Excellent written and spoken English; Arabic is advantageous.
- Availability for full-time work and regular travel to project locations across the Middle East.
