Role Description
The General Manager is a part-time, remote position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Microsoft Student Club - SCU.
In this role, you will coordinate club activities, manage timelines, and ensure smooth execution of events, workshops, and projects.
You will collaborate with student leaders, volunteers, faculty advisors, and external partners to plan initiatives, allocate resources, and maintain clear communication.
Typical tasks include managing schedules, tracking goals and budgets, organizing online meetings, and documenting decisions and action items.
You will also help with recruiting and onboarding new members, supporting marketing and outreach efforts, and monitoring progress toward club objectives while fostering an inclusive, supportive environment.
Qualifications
- Operational and organizational skills, including coordinating activities, managing schedules, and tracking tasks to completion.
- Leadership and team collaboration abilities, with experience guiding peers, facilitating meetings, and resolving issues constructively.
- Strong communication skills, including clear written communication, professional email etiquette, and confident virtual presentation or meeting facilitation.
- Event and project coordination experience, such as helping plan workshops, talks, or student projects, preferably in a campus or community setting.
- Comfort using digital tools for remote collaboration (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Office apps, shared documents, and project boards).
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently with minimal supervision, and adapt to changing needs during the academic term.
- Interest in technology, innovation, and student development; prior involvement in student organizations or tech clubs is a plus.
- Current enrollment at Santa Clara University or strong familiarity with SCU student life and campus resources is preferred.
